Rits work just fine.
Resto can keep up fine with them healing prayer monks. Sure Protection kicks our ass when it gets to getting the job done, but resto still heals fine and sometimes even better than that.
Channeling works better than ever, though like the assassin the spells need to be chained to give the best damage result. You have to figure out what combo works fine.
Communing has hit several hurdles specially the protection side of it, but the offensive spirit line still does its work.
Spawning provides the energy management side and other niches like Spirit Strength/minion bomber builds but as a main focus doesn't add much.
It's a slow and at times difficult profession, but once you get comfortable it all goes like a breeze.

Rits are a solid profession that give the player variablity. Plus.. they look awesome.
Also, I dont know of any class that can Farm the UW (Very Fast), FoW Forest, FoW Cave, DoA, and various other places? I dont think so

Rits are slowly becoming the solo kings of GW, there is so much they can solo, and things that everyone else can solo, the rit can do it faster most of the time.
I am sure they can solo a lot more than they currently can, but not a lot of people play the rit so only a few people are actually comming up with builds, instead of just copying others.

Rits are very versatile. Though they can be potential healers with Restoration skills, they can also do a lot of spiking damage with their Channeling skills. Communing is also a popular one, especially in PvP when you'll run into a lot of spirit spammers in Arena-based areas. However, if you enjoyed playing as Engineers in certain team-based ground combat games, then I'd give a Ritualist a shot. That's one of the reasons why I got myself hooked into playing a Rit.

If you have the slot, then why not? Most of my glad points come from my rit, and as they say above, its easy to use them to solo some loot in a pinch.

They are quite a versatile profession these days. You can keep a team alive through restoration, kill things through channeling, and have good utility skills too.
You can also annoy the hell out of people in RA by spirit spamming.
They are always getting their skills buffed by Anet too, so in six months time they will all be uber-godlike.
Better get that rit rolled

Personally, my Rit is my favorite character to play because he can do just about anything.
I usually run a Attuned rit healer, have done a caretakers charge channeler in AB, Spirits Strengh Rt/P and Rt/A. Also going to try a new Rt/N Bomber build found on here, which doesn't have the same issue's with energy as SR now apparently does (I've been at work, haven't been able to work that on that issue).

Pros :
Awesome versability : healer, nuker, spiker, offensive spirits, defensive spirits
Awesome look, rit chicks are really niiiice
Can solo many places easily
Rit Stuff is cheap
Cons:
People won't pick you up
When they do, they won't believe you can heal as good as a Healing Monk
PUG won't let you put down your spirits before charging
Well, the only issue is PuG, Rits rock!

They can have healing, damage, spirits, conditions, and a perma rez on a Rt/X skillbar. Extremely fun to watch them twist while targeting other ally. Cool-looking spirits. Unholy tattoos on their arms. Anciant and 15k Kurzick armor.

Ritualists can do as much damage as elementalists and they can farm many places. When playing through Nightfall on my rit I had no trouble finding groups.

Aint that the truth. At anything under lvl 20 I had a heck of a time getting a group. So I made a MM Rit and people want me all the time now as for everytime I summon I deal AoE damage and heal/energy myself. I have yet to need to be healed by a monk.
But at a lower class you do not have a base really yet. Most people take offensive spirits with maybe union or something. My suggestion is do not take a defensive spirit with an offensive main build. Take weapon enchantments instead like resiliant.
Also if you do not have a saved rit lord build I suggest making one to become more versitile. You can cap Weapon of Quickening (until you get Ritual Lord) early in the game.

Did I hear someone mention my guide? And it's not new, it's been around since the Factions Preview Event. But yeah, since Soul Reaping got PWNED, Rit MMs are the way to go, now. Man, first the Minion Cap, now this. Necros might as well just /wrist. *Is not complaining.*
